1. ALS Association Louisiana-Mississippi

The Care Services staff of The ALS Association Louisiana-Mississippi provide patients, caregivers, family members, friends and healthcare workers a range of services to guide and assist in coping with and learning more about  ALS.

The ALS Association Louisiana-Mississippi loans medical equipment and assistive technology to patients to assist in daily living. The program loans or purchases a variety of equipment for patients as long as they are in need. We also accept equipment donations from families no longer utilizing their equipment

2. Families Helping Families 

Families Helping Families is one of the lead resource centers serving individuals with developmental disabilities and their families in Northeast Louisiana. The FHF Center utilizes a parent-driven, coordinated network of services to assist families in achieving the ultimate goal of full inclusion for individuals with disabilities.

Through donations from parents, FHF maintains a storage building with various pieces of equipment commonly used by individuals with disabilities. Families may borrow what they need at no cost. The lending library includes items such as shower chairs, toilet chairs, walkers, crutches, standers, diapers, and others.

3. Louisiana Assistive Technology Access Network

Louisiana Assistive Technology Access Network is the federal Assistive Technology (AT) ACT program for Louisiana. Working throughout Louisiana, LATAN serves residents with disabilities or functional limitations who need AT devices, including some durable medical equipment, AT services, family member/caregiver information, and other resources needed to promote a better quality of life for all.

Any Louisiana resident with a disability or functional limitation, organizations that work with those residents, or employers of those residents are eligible to use LATAN’s Device Loan Program. For a small fee, devices may be borrowed for thirty-five (35) days.

4. Rebuilding Together Acadiana 

Rebuilding Together is the nation’s leading nonprofit working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize communities. Its network of more than 200 affiliates provides free rehabilitation and critical repairs to the homes of low-income Americans.

Ramps & Rails program was initiated in 2006 to provide elderly or disabled homeowners with access ramps, railings, and grab bars for safe home access and fall prevention. These renovations are done according to the construction standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

5. Southwest Louisiana Independence Center 

Southwest Louisiana Independence Center, Inc., a 501 C-3 non-profit agency, is a non-residential agency of action, advocacy, and coalition where people with a disability and seniors can become empowered to develop the skills necessary to make effective lifestyle choices.

@SLIC’s Loaner Closet provides medical equipment to those in need. All funding received from patrons goes directly towards the Loaner Closet to purchase new shower chairs, walkers, wheelchairs, and other needed medical devices.

6. Trach Mommas of Louisiana 

Trach Mommas of Louisiana provides peer support, resources, education, training, information, and advocacy to parents, caregivers, and individuals with a tracheostomy. They also have a DME program where they provide medical equipment to all ages.

7. Southwest Americans with Disabilities Act Center 

Within the National Network of ADA Centers are 10 individual branches serving particular geographical areas. This office serves persons with disabilities residing in Louisiana. Louisiana Department of Health provides medical equipment and appliances such as wheelchairs, leg braces, etc. to all the Medicaid recipients.All services must be prescribed by a physician and must be Prior Authorized.
