Reviews: The 5 Best Classic Brands Adjustable Beds
1. Classic Brands Upholstered Adjustable Bed Base
Classic Brands Upholstered Adjustable Bed Base |
|
---|---|
Length |
53″ |
Width |
74″ |
Height |
15″ |
Weight |
138 lbs |
Features and Benefits:
This is, almost without comparison, a bed base that has a great remote. Most remotes have one or two presets, and a “lay-flat” button. The remote on this Classic Brands bed has pre-programmed Zero-Gravity, “Snore” position, TV watching position, back and leg presets, and 3 customizable memory buttons on top of the “lay-flat” button and massage controls. Does that sound like a lot? It is! This bed gives you all the options you could want!
Apart from that, this bed is also designed to work with almost any mattress you put on it. It’s also very affordable (just under $700 for the Queen). This means you can order a top-quality mattress and put it on this budget-friendly base and get the same kind of sleep you would on a $2,000 base!
The only thing about this bed that is lacking is the massage function- it has back and leg massagers, that can be set to a timer. They work well, but it isn’t the best massaging bed in the world. For almost any other purpose, however, this adjustable bed base is hard to beat!
Pros
- Available from Twin XL to King/Split King sizes
- Fits almost any mattress brand/type
- Fits almost any mattress brand/type
Cons
- Fits almost any mattress brand/type
Who is this bed best for?
This is a great choice of an adjustable bed for someone who wants lots of relaxing and reclining options but doesn’t want to spend a fortune. You can choose many different positions both for sleeping and relaxing, without the constant guesswork of continually pressing the up/down buttons. Additionally, it’s ideal for people who want something other than a King size; many other adjustable beds are King or Split King only.
2. Classic Brands Affordomatic 2.0 Adjustable Bed
Classic Brands Adjustable Comfort Affordamatic 2.0 |
|
---|---|
Length |
59″ |
Width |
79″ |
Height |
15″ |
Weight |
110 lbs |
Features and Benefits:
Plain and simple, this is one of the most affordable adjustable beds on the market, no matter what size! If you’re on a tight budget, it will be hard to ignore the low price of this bed, especially considering how many features it still manages to include. The Queen-size base will cost just under $500, and give you the same articulation of bed bases that cost twice as much.
The one major sacrifice this bed base makes is massage; most beds have some form of massage but this one has none. Unless you truly need a massage each night, though, that likely won’t be something you miss. This bed still articulates up to 65 and 50 degrees for the back and legs, respectively. This gives you lots of options to control your reclining and sleeping positions, and get a great, restful sleep every night.
It is a bare-bones bed, to be sure. But, that should be looked at as a great feature, not a drawback. The Affordomatic 2.0 gives you everything you need and nothing that you don’t!
Pros
- Extremely affordable- less than $1,000 even after you buy a mattress
- 65 and 50-degree articulation, more than many expensive bed bases
- Compatible with most mattress brands and types
Cons
- Lacks massage features and USB outlets
- The remote control is very basic, with not many buttons/features.
Who is this bed best for?
This is the best adjustable bed for people on a tight budget. It’s almost impossible to find an adjustable bed base that performs as well as this one for the same price. It does sacrifice some features that many seniors value, so it isn’t for everyone, but it’s hard to turn down the savings for most! If you’re looking for a simple, affordable, adjustable bed base, look no further than the Affordomatic 2.0!
3. Classic Brands Gramercy Euro-Top Cool Gel Memory Foam Base/Mattress Combo
Classic Brands Gramercy |
|
---|---|
Length |
78″ |
Width |
80″ |
Height |
14″ |
Weight |
100 lbs |
Features:
This bed combo joins the Comfort adjustable base with a 14-inch cooling hybrid mattress to form an exceptional all-in-one product. The bed base is the same as the Comfort model (#1 on our list), so we won’t repeat information about the base; let’s focus instead on the mattress.
This is a “hybrid” mattress, meaning it uses both memory foam and modern springs. This gives you the superior softness and flexibility of memory foam and the support and durability of a traditional innerspring mattress. The chief complaint about traditional mattresses is that they are too still; for memory foam mattresses, it’s that they wear down too fast. The hybrid mattress solves both of those problems nicely, and this model also uses cooling gel to keep even the hottest sleepers comfortable and snoozing all night long!
Pros
- Bed Base and Mattress included
- Luxurious 14-inch cooling hybrid mattress
- “All-in-one” convenience
- Available in all bed sizes
Cons
- Might be too firm for some users
Who is this bed best for?
This is a great bed for people who don’t want to shop separately for an adjustable bed base and mattress. Shopping separately is usually more expensive and you run the risk of choosing a mattress that doesn’t truly fit. Getting everything you need in one shipment will have you sleeping better, faster!
4. Classic Brands Mercer Mattress and Comfort Adjustable Bed Combo
Classic Brands Mercer Combo |
|
---|---|
Length |
72″ |
Width |
84″ |
Height |
12″ |
Weight |
110 lbs |
Features:
The Mercer, like the Gramercy, is a hybrid mattress that Classic Brands designed to form the “sweet spot” between traditional and memory foam mattresses. It’s not quite as thick as the Gramercy, which makes it more firm and ideal for people who need lots of support while they sleep.
The bed base is the same as the Comfort; it has massaging features, the zero-gravity position, and all the presets you need to have a great night’s sleep and relax to your hearts’ content. You can seamlessly transition from watching TV in bed to relaxing with a massage, then to sleeping soundly, all with the help of a few buttons. If you’re looking for a firmer mattress that will still bend and flex with your adjustable bed, this is it!
Pros
- Firm mattress great for many users
- Comes with fully-featured adjustable base
- Cooling gel foam to keep all sleepers comfortable
Cons
- Firmness isn’t for everyone
- No head tilt, not great for acid reflux needs
Who is this bed best for?
This is the ideal choice of an adjustable bed for firm and hot sleepers who need something that truly caters to them. Most mattresses avoid firmness at all costs; plush mattresses are great but not right for everyone. People with certain types of back pain may like a firmer mattress much more because it supports your body more evenly. It certainly isn’t for everyone, but if you’ve felt left behind by the plush mattress trend, this is the adjustable bed combo for you!
5. Classic Brand Comfort Posture+ Adjustable Bed Base
Classic Brands Adjustable Comfort Posture+ |
|
---|---|
Length |
38″ |
Width |
80″ |
Height |
19″ |
Weight |
148.7 lbs |
Features:
This is Classic Brand’s most premium model, and the price reflects that. It’s still more affordable than other brand’s bed bases, especially for the advantages it provides. The big thing that sets the Posture+ apart from other Classic Brands beds is a little feature called “wall-hugging”. This means that the bed slowly glides backward as the back lifts, keeping you tucked right next to the headboard at all times.
Not having a wall-hugging feature saves money, but it makes you feel like you’re in the middle of the room when sitting up rather than at the back of your bed. It also puts you far away from your nightstand and all the necessities it holds. The Posture+ has a great wall-hugging feature that makes using your adjustable bed that much more convenient!
The Posture+ has great massage features and remote presets, too. There are dual full-body massagers that each have three intensity levels, letting you or your spouse get a great back, leg, or full-body massage. The remotes also have the full range of pre-programmed and programmable buttons that make using an adjustable bed easy and intuitive. If you’re looking for the full experience of a luxury adjustable bed, this is it!
Pros
- Wall-hugging feature keeps you close to the nightstand at all times
- Great massage features and memory presets
- Compatible will many different mattress types
Cons
- Much more expensive than bases without wall-hugging
- Bluetooth connectivity is spotty
Who is this bed best for?
If you have a smaller bedroom, wall-hugging will help you feel like you’re still making the most of the space you have. In addition, wall-hugging features are great for people who need access to sleep apnea masks, medicine, or even just a glass of water on their nightstand. This is an amazing adjustable bed for anyone who needs a wall-hugging feature or simply wants that added convenience in their bed!
FAQs/Buyer’s Guide
What is the Background of Classic Brands?
Classic Corporation, the company’s original name, started making waterbeds in the early 1970s. Over the last few decades, they have grown into one of the industry’s leading names in affordable, quality mattresses and bed frames.
Classic Brands puts most of their focus into their mattresses, and their line of hybrid mattresses shows their commitment to both comfort and budget-friendliness. They partner with many physical and internet retailers to deliver mattresses and bed frames across the country, and have a great reputation for quality, durability, and comfort!
Where are Classic Brands Adjustable Beds Made?
Classic Brands makes their mattresses in Maryland and China and has warehousing/distribution across the country. They are one of the few mostly US-based affordable mattress makers in business today.
What is the Price Range for Classic Brands Adjustable Beds?
Classic Brands adjustable beds will typically cost between $450 and $2,000. Why such a wide range? It all depends on the size of the bed, the type of adjustable base, and whether or not you get a base/mattress combo. If you get a Full-size Affordomatic 2.0, you’ll be spending less than $450, but the Posture+ in a King size costs about four times as much! Compare these models to similar models from other brands, though, and you’ll see the true savings that Classic Brands provides.
Tips for Buying a Classic Brands Adjustable Bed
- Wall Hugging: Do I Need It?
Make no mistake, wall-hugging is a feature that is in quite high demand for adjustable beds. It does, however, cost a lot more money than an adjustable bed without it. Before buying a Classic Brands adjustable bed, ask yourself if wall-hugging is a feature you truly need or if you might regret the added expense!
- What Mattress Should I Get?
If you opt to get a Classic Brands adjustable bed base without an included mattress, you might wonder what mattress will actually work with your new base. The good news is, Classic Brands’ bases work with most mattress types. That doesn’t mean you can just toss your old innerspring on top of it though; the best mattress for an adjustable bed is memory foam because of its flexibility. Classic Brands has a large selection of memory foam, cooling gel, and hybrid mattresses that will all work with their adjustable bed bases and makes things a bit easier!
- Is Massage Worth It?
Here’s the bottom line: no massage feature on an adjustable bed will replicate the quality of a true massage chair. If you’re looking for the massage of your life on an adjustable bed, you won’t find it! However, Classic Brands does offer some of the best massages available for beds, in the Posture+ and Classic Comfort models. If you think massage is something you want, you will be satisfied with those choices! If not, the Affordomatic 2.0 will save you lots of money!
Conclusion
Classic Brands adjustable beds are a great way to upgrade your bed without spending too much. They’re a trusted maker of mattresses and bed bases that has a decades-long reputation for providing a high level of comfort and durability. Adjustable beds from Classic brands are sure to help you sleep better, sleep longer, and wake up feeling better than ever!
