Arkansas Disability Coalition (ADC) is a is an alliance of organizations and individuals joined to promote full and equal participation of people with disabilities in all aspects of life. They are a statewide organization that assists families and individuals with all types of disabilities, providing health-related support, information, resources, and training.

3. Southwest ADA Center

5. Arkansas Independent Living Council

The Arkansas Independent Living Council is a non-profit organization promoting independent living for people with disabilities. The AILC has a Board of Directors comprised of Governor-appointed Arkansans, the majority with disabilities. The ARSILC collaborates with the Centers for Independent Living to provide the four core services which include Information and Referral, Peer Support, Independent Living Skills Training, and Advocacy.

6. Arkansas Disability Rights Center

The Disability Rights Center of Arkansas (DRC) is the independent, private, nonprofit organization designated by the governor of Arkansas to implement the federally funded and authorized protection and advocacy systems throughout the state. DRC provides information and referral, short-term assistance, selected individual and legal representation, systemic advocacy, monitoring and training. DRC services are provided free of charge. DRC, a nonprofit agency, is independent of state or local government.

10. Arkansas Vocational Rehabilitation

Arkansas Rehabilitation Services’ (ARS) mission is to prepare Arkansans with disabilities to work and lead productive and independent lives. 11. Goodwill Industries of Arkansas

Goodwill Industries of Arkansas is a long-standing nonprofit chain with a range of pre-owned clothing, furniture, housewares & more. They offer many programs to the community such as The Excel Center, The Academy, Career Services, Reentry Servies, and Community Resources.They also mention a lending closet. If you require Durable Medical Equipment, Goodwill will lend you wheelchairs, commodes, walkers and crutches without any cost.In Arkansas, Goodwill has offices at these locations.

12. Mainstream Center for Independent Living

Mainstream is a non-profit, non-residential, consumer-driven Independent Living Resource Center for people with disabilities in central Arkansas. Mainstream’s Ramp Program provides access to and from home for people with mobility impairments. Mainstream coordinates this program with The AT&T Telephone Pioneers (formerly known as the Southwestern Bell Telephone Pioneers) and the City of Little Rock Community Development Block Grant Initiative. The ramps are built according to ADA specifications.

13. Lakewood United Methodist Church

Faith-based organizations like your local churches are always a great resource to find resources and help in difficult times. Lakewood United Methodist Church is such an organization and its Ozark Mission Project is a project that helps seniors and people with disabilities. They are the founding member of the Ozark Mission Project, a summer camp where teenagers get out in the Arkansas heat to help people who are physically or financially unable to maintain their homes, by painting houses, building wheelchair ramps, or clearing brush. Five thousand homes later, OMP has a dozen camps where over six hundred campers live in churches, eat donated food, and borrow showers each evening.

14. Arkansas Spinal Cord Commission

The Arkansas Spinal Cord Commission is a health-related agency of the state of Arkansas, established by Act 311 of 1975. It administers a statewide program to identify and meet the unique and lifelong needs of people with spinal cord disabilities in Arkansas.

ASCC has 10 Regional Equipment Recycling Centers located around the state, in each field office. Better known as our “Loan Closets”, the Recs maintain durable medical equipment that can be loaned to ASCC clients for when they have an emergency or need a temporary piece of equipment until their permanent equipment is purchased or repaired.

Also, when available, a client may borrow a wheelchair or other equipment to see if it meets his or her need, or fits in their home or vehicle, before making a costly purchase.
