1. Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation

Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation is committed to creating a community based on respect, fairness, and equality where everyone is given an opportunity to reach their full potential. One of their many programs is Equipment Fund; it is a resource for people with disabilities throughout Kansas who need referral services, information, or financial assistance for medical devices and assistive technology. CPRF creates funding packages for items such as power wheelchairs, van lifts, home modifications, video magnifiers, cranial molding helmets, scooters, ramps, lift chairs, and much more.

2. City of Topeka

If you are a resident of the City of Topeka, you can benefit from the Housing Services Division’s home modification program that builds free wheelchair ramps and many other services.

3. Capper Foundation

The John K. Knoll Mobility Bank, named in honour of former Chairman of The Capper Board of Trustees, was established in 1996 to loan mobility equipment to any individual, any age, in need in our community. The bank includes items such as wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, canes, shower benches, stool risers, and commodes.

4. Independence, Inc.

Independence, Inc.‎ a resource in Lawrence and Northeast Kansas that helps people with disabilities through advocacy, peer support, training, transportation, and community education. Their Equipment Loan Program provides loans and donations of recycled durable medical equipment at low or no cost to the public. Each item has a suggested donation amount, but no one is turned away because of lack of ability to pay.

5. Independent Living Resource Center

Medical Equipment Recycling Network: MERN is a program designed to help people with disabilities by providing essential medical equipment at no cost. MERN offers new and gently-used equipment to those who need it, thanks to the generous donations of hospitals, medical equipment suppliers, private agencies and individuals. We rely on donations and do not receive funding for this critical service.

6. Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging 

Area Agency on Aging is always a great resource to find information and places to get help. People residing in Shawnee, Jefferson and Douglas Counties can contact Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging for information, referral, and services.

7. Kansas Equipment Exchange 

Helps Kansans obtain affordable, durable medical equipment and assistive technology. Accepts wheelchair donations, hospital beds, lifts and other medical equipment, which is then refurbished and given to Kansas residents in need.

8. K-Loan

K-Loan is an Alternative Finance Program offered through Assistive Technology for Kansans (ATK), the statewide assistive technology program, coordinated by the University of Kansas. K-Loan was established and is directed by persons with disabilities. It is a consumer-run program designed to provide persons with disabilities and their families with access to financial resources toward acquiring assistive technology through education, saving and borrowing.The low-interest loans are designed to help individuals with chronic health problems or disabilities obtain a variety of equipment that can be used at home, school or on the job. Funds can be used to help with the purchase of assistive technology equipment ranging from hearing aids to mobility devices. Personnel can help identify alternate funding sources.

The Medical Loan Closet of Wichita serves the community by loaning Durable Medical Equipment to the underserved and individuals who have issues with their insurance. They have mobility equipment like Electric Wheel Chairs, Wheel Chairs, Walker, Rollator, Knee Roller, Merry Walker, Crutches, and Canes

20. Northeast Kansas Agency on Aging

Finding a cheap transport in your area can be challenging. Northeast Kansas Area Agency on Aging is a non-profit agency serving senior citizens and their families. Their service area includes the counties of Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, Jackson, Marshall, Nemaha and Washington. They have a transportation program where they provide trips within the Hiawatha city for $2 each.

21. Sunflower Diversified Services, Inc.

Sunflower Diversified Services have a wealth of programs for people with disabilities. They might not provide grants or equipment but can provide you referrals, Training on the use of devices, funding information, information about reuse devices, etc. They also have a transportation program that serves Barton, Rice, Rush, Stafford, and Pawnee County routes weekdays with Great Bend and local area within 10 miles of  Great Bend city proper evenings and weekends.

You can get a piece of equipment on loan if your equipment is being repaired, you are experiencing a temporary disability, or you would like to try a piece of equipment before making a purchase, the short-term equipment loan program is here to help. 23. The Solution Outreach Center

The Solution Outreach Center assists children and adults with disabilities to participate more independently within their environment through assistive technology.The Solution Outreach Center at OCCK, Inc. is one of five Assistive Technology Access Sites in Kansas, which are part of the Assistive Technology for Kansans (ATK) Project.

    I was looking for a wheel chair ramp for may mother who will be having her leg amputated this week. I was told that the state of Kansas offers assistance for the elderly in theses situations. If anyone is able to get back to me it would be appreciated.
