Features of EWheels EW72 Mobility Scooter

E-Wheels - EW-72 Heavy Duty Scooter - 4-Wheel - 18.5"W x 17"D - Red

Speed and Distance

This is the area where EWheels is miles- literally- ahead of its competition. Nearly every scooter they produce is the fastest in its class, and the EW72 is no different. You can reach a top speed of 15 miles per hour, and travel up to 43 miles, on one charge! Other companies’ scooters struggle to top 10 MPH and achieve a 25 mile-range.

The real benefit of a mobility scooter is that you can go farther and faster with them than with a walker or wheelchair. The EW72 doubles down on that benefit, so you’ll have no problem staying all day long. This is great not only for running errands, but also for enjoying your day- seeing friends, spending time outside, etc. The EW72 has the power you need to stay completely engaged in your life!

Tall, All-Terrain Tires

The front tires are 14 inches tall, and the rear tires are 16 inches tall. This makes the EW72’s off-road performance roughly equivalent to a good bike! You can ride just about anywhere you like without fear of getting stuck, thanks to these tall, traction-providing tires.

For people who spent their time at parks, beaches, or nature trails before having their mobility limited, all-terrain tires mean that their lifestyle doesn’t have to change. Aging, injury, or medical issues don’t have to keep you away from the things you love- a good mobility scooter will keep you right where you want to be!

Weight Limit

With a 500-pound weight limit, the EWheels EW72 is strong enough to support just about any user. And, even if you weigh something close to that number, you don’t have to worry about the scooter losing power. Even at 500 pounds, you can still ride up to 12 MPH and stay out all day without completely draining your batteries. This makes the EW72 a bariatric scooter option that few competitors can beat.

Supportive Seat

Not every mobility scooter is as supportive as it should be. Sometimes, they’re made with backrests that are too small to lean on. This can make them uncomfortable and even dangerous for people with severe back and neck issues to use. The EW72 has a tall, supportive “captain’s chair”- style seat. It can support every part of your back, neck, and head while you ride.

This means you won’t be leaning forward and worsening your posture just to get around, nor will you be suffering from the pain of every bump in the road. You’ll be able to relax and lean back, letting the cushions on the chair take the pressure off of your body while you ride. If you’ve ridden scooters with very little support in the past, you know this feature’s value intuitively.

Bright Lights, Large Mirrors

This is another feature that should come standard on every mobility scooter, but sadly does not. The Ewheels EW72 mobility scooter has a set of very bright lights, both in front and in the rear, that both help you see and help others see you. If you’ll be riding in the dark at any point, this is a safety feature that you can’t ignore! It’s also a big plus for people with low vision who could benefit from a safe mobility scooter.

Rearview mirrors, too, are a valuable safety feature. Especially if you have spinal cord damage, twisting around to see what’s behind you is a bad idea. This scooter has two large mirrors that resemble what you’d find on a motorcycle or moped. This helps you protect yourself- and others- while out and about on your scooter.

Pros and Cons of Drive Medical Nitro Euro Style Rollator Walker

PROS

  • Go Faster, Farther: 15 MPH top speed and 43-mile range makes this scooter one of the best in its class.
  • Tall Deck Height: A 6-inch deck height helps you ride off-road with little fear of running aground on a bump or stick. Less worrying, more riding!
  • Sporty Design: Mobility scooters aren’t often built to look good, but this one is! This cuts down on the negative stereotypes surrounding mobility aids and lets you ride with your head up!
  • Perfect for Tall Users: This scooter is already pretty large, and the seat slides backward to accommodate even the tallest users. For people above 6’2” who’ve had uncomfortable scooters, this will be a great relief.
  • Captain’s Chair: Tall, supportive chair gives your back relief from bumps in the road and speed changes. Great for people with spine problems.
  • All-Terrain Options: You can ride through tall grass, gravel, mud and even snow with this scooter. Almost no space is off-limits to you!

CONS

  • Not for Indoors: this is a very large scooter, and it likely won’t wit in most indoor spaces.
  • Wide Turning Radius: 92 inches is required to make a complete turn. Can be annoying in tighter spaces.
  • Not for Small Users: If you’re shorter than 5’3”, chances are this will simply be too much for you.

Who the EWheels EW72 Mobility Scooter Best For?

E-Wheels - EW-72 Heavy Duty Scooter - 4-Wheel - 18.5"W x 17"D - Red

The EWheels EW72 is an ideal mobility scooter for bariatric patients. Other bariatric scooters may have a similar weight capacity, but most of them lack the features, speed, and range of this scooter. If you need a scooter to make life easier while dealing with weight-related issues, look no further than the EW72. It has the power you need to run errands, visit the doctor, and stay social– while still looking after your health.

It’s also a great scooter for tall people. Mobility scooters are great, but not when your knees are knocking against the tiller and making it impossible to steer! The EW72 is large by nature, and  If you’re above 6’2”, this scooter is exactly what you need to stay mobile and comfortable.

More than anything, though, this scooter is what you need if you want to leave the sidewalks behind. The tall off-road wheels, 6-inch deck clearance, and power of the EW72 make it capable of just about anything. You can go to the grandkids’ sports games, to the park, to the beach- almost anywhere- with this scooter! That traction and power make it perfect for people who live in wet/snowy climates as well. It can handle slick concrete, mud, and snow, without getting stuck.

Helpful Resources for the EWheels EW72:

Top Competitor Product: Shoprider Sprinter XL4

Shoprider SPRINTER XL4 Deluxe Heavy Duty Electric Mobility Scooter

The Shoprider Sprinter has the same weight capacity and similar off-road capabilities as the EW72, even though its wheels are only 12 inches tall. It also has a much tighter turning radius, and it can be easily separated into three pieces so that it fits in your car. The scooter itself weighs about forty pounds less than the EW72, making it more portable and versatile overall.

Where it starts to lose ground against the EW72, however, is in the power category. The Sprinter XL4 has a range of 25 miles per charge and a top speed of 5 MPH. Compared to other scooters, those numbers are actually pretty good. They’re nothing compared to the speed and range of the EW72, though. On top of that, this scooter looks less sporty than the EWheels model, which can be a deterrent for some people.

All things considered, this is still a great bariatric scooter. It’s safe, comfortable, and versatile. It may be a better choice than the EW72 for people who don’t need the speed or range and would instead prefer a slightly smaller, more portable scooter!

Pros

  • High weight limit, great bariatric scooter option
  • Off-road capabilities are solid; very safe
  • Lighter, easier to transport design
  • Lighter, easier to transport design

Cons

  • Lacks the speed and range of the EW72
  • Not a “sporty” design
  • Very expensive compared to other scooters
