Methodist Health System – Methodist Equipment Loan Program: Recycle and Reuse

Program Description:

With four hospitals in Nebraska and southwest Iowa, more than 30 clinic locations, a nursing and allied health college, and a medical supply distributorship and central laundry.

Methodist Health System brings the full resources of our regional network of health care providers, educators and support services to ensure that you always have comprehensive, compassionate care – when and where you need it.

The Methodist Equipment Loan Program provides patients in need access to free home medical equipment through their recycle and reuse program, enabling patients to focus on recovery and return home.

Blue Rivers AAA – Equipment Donations & Family Caregiver Support

Program Description:

Since 1974, we have joined in a collaborative effort to assist, protect, and advocate for elderly Nebraskans so that they may choose the community-based living options that suit them best. 

Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging continues to be a vital local resource for seniors age 60 and over in our service area. Blue Rivers AAA has an 8-county service area in Southeast Nebraska: Gage, Jefferson, Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Richardson, and Thayer County.

Our Administrative Office is located in Beatrice, Nebraska, the county seat of Gage County. Donations of gently used durable medical equipment and incontinence supplies are also accepted.

One area of the Family Caregiver Support Program is to provide Supplemental Services to assist with the cost of identified services (such as Personal Emergency Response System, simple home modifications, durable medical equipment, etc.) offered on a limited basis to compliment the care provided by the caregiver.

ALS in the Heartland (ALSITH) – Equipment Loan Program

Program Description:

ALS in the Heartland (ALSITH) is not funded by, or affiliated with, the national ALS Association (ALSA). All funds raised by ALSITH remain in Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota to solely and immediately support people with ALS living in those states.

ALS in the Heartland loans or purchases various equipment at no charge, such as mobility items, communication devices, shower/tub chairs, and daily living aides.

  1. 1In order to access ALS in the Heartland’s Equipment Loan Program the followingrequirements must be met:a) The patient must have an ALS diagnosis from a qualified neurologist;b) The patient or caregiver must have completed the Equipment Loan Agreement and Waiver provided by ALS in the Heartland;The patient must reside in ALS in the Heartland’s service area of Nebraska and western Iowa
  2. 2Requesting Equipment:a) Equipment requests should be made to ALS in the Heartland’s Equipment Loan Program.b) Requests can be made by patients, their caregivers or attending medical professionals.
  3. 3Equipment Delivery:a. Equipment delivery method is in large part determined by the equipment’s size, value and the delivery location. Most items can be delivered by a Patient Services team member in the Omaha and Lincoln metropolitan areas. Small equipment items appropriate to mail will be sent directly to the patient. Large items or equipment needs geographically distant areas from Omaha will be handled on a case-by case basis with oversight provided by the equipment coordinator.b. Equipment purchased from a third party is shipped directly to the patient unless otherwise arranged.c. Equipment can also be picked up at ALS in the Heartland located at 1320 S. 119th Street in Omaha.
  4. 4Thank you for your generous consideration of sharing equipment with others impacted by ALS. We appreciate your kindness and understanding collecting these items may take 30-60 days for ALS in the Heartland.

Mobility Equipment Restoration

Program Description:

Mobility Equipment Restoration is led by an Omaha NE couple, Marne and Hans Iwand. It is a non-profit organization that restores and custom builds wheelchairs, strollers, walkers, and various types of equipment for children with special needs. 

Their goal is to provide the equipment at little or no cost to families. They accept donations of used mobility equipment that we then refurbish and donate to children in need.
