Helping Hands of Vegas Valley is a non-profit whose mission is to improve the quality of life for senior citizens and their families in order to maintain their dignity and independence.

Here, Helping Hands of Vegas Valley is working to expand our programming, become a greater part of the community, and continue to partner and work with leaders in our field of work.
For the past 20 years, HHOVV has provided no-cost services to senior citizens whose earnings are below the federal poverty level. Our focus encompasses four key difficulties facing this population while living in Southern Nevada: access to enough food, safe transportation, respite care support, and trusted sources for minor home repair. Over 3,000 seniors throughout the Las Vegas area are served annually through our HHOVV programs.
We help to address issues that affect our gently aging population. We are an organization that helps to make an impact by changing the lives of those who are often forgotten. One day at a time. One senior citizen at a time. Together, we can improve the quality of life for our senior citizens and their families.
- 1Services are at no-cost to our clients.
- 2Rides are provided to ambulatory as well as clients using assistive devices i.e., cane, walker, wheelchair, scooter, or oxygen.
- 3Non-ambulatory clients may be transported by staff drivers on vehicles with ADA ramps or lifts.

A growing population of senior citizens in Las Vegas and an increasing demand for mobility encouraged or led the RTC to establish Silver STAR & FDR.
For this reason, the RTC works with valley seniors to identify neighborhood routes to help meet their mobility needs.

The service is open to the entire community, but was designed with senior citizens in mind. The service stops at senior living communities and various shopping areas.
Every Silver STAR route connects with regular RTC fixed-route service to provide a broad range of destinations for passengers. Riders can use transit passes for boarding and each Silver STAR vehicle can accommodate up to two wheelchairs at a time.
- 1The fare for FDR is just $0.50 cents for each boarding.

In 2006, Access to Healthcare (AHN) was born of a realization that too many Nevadans were uninsured and that something could be done about it.

Sherri Rice, the CEO of AHN, sketched out the first Shared Responsibility Model–demonstrating how the entire community could join forces to reduce the number of uninsured Nevadans without overburdening any one group–on a cocktail napkin. The principals that it laid out remain at the heart of Access to Healthcare today.
Sherri Rice joined forces with her colleague Niki King, who had worked with her at the YWCA and is the former COO of AHN, and together they began building an organization to serve the healthcare needs of Nevada’s forgotten poor. In a tiny office in a corner of Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, they created a company that today has touched the lives of so many in our community by assisting them gain access to the healthcare services and health related resources they need to become and stay well.
- 1The service is free for eligible riders.
