With locations in Travis and Williamson Counties, the AGE of Central Texas Thrive Social & Wellness Centers provide exceptional weekday care for older adults with physical or cognitive needs in the longest-operating, licensed adult day health care centres in Central Texas.

The AGE of Central Texas Health Equipment Lending Program makes a wide variety of health and mobility equipment available to the community through free, no-time-limit loans of donated equipment.  In 2016, more than 1,200 individuals received loans provided at no charge to seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those in need. The program also distributes donated adult incontinence products to those who need them.

Alert Response is a family-owned and operated company that is based in North Texas. We offer products and services that will help you provide quality care to your loved ones while allowing them to preserve their independence.

The Elderly Service Providers (ESP) of Denton County DME Exchange is provided to assist those who cannot afford to purchase needed medical equipment.

3. Feonix – Mobility Rising 

Feonix – Mobility Rising was launched in 2018 and is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. They provide mobility solutions by a diverse menu of transportation options, be they public transportation, ride-, car- or bike-sharing, volunteer drivers, taxi, or a combination thereof in the states of Wisconsin, Texas, South Carolina, and Nebraska. 4. Free Foundation

The Foundation for Rehabilitation Equipment & Endowment (F.R.E.E.) is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) non-profit based in the state of Virginia. They collect, sanitize, and gift donated mobility equipment to low-come uninsured or under-insured adults in Virginia.

Equipment is available to uninsured and under-insured adults located in the state of Virginia. Because the equipment is donated, the items that are available vary at any given time. It is advised that you contact the F.R.E.E. chapter nearest you to inquire about availability before applying. They have chapters in Roanoke, Richmond, Williamsburg, Lynchburg, Winchester, and Virginia Beach.

5. Christmas in Action 

Christmas in Action is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that, in partnership with the community, repairs homes of low-income elderly and/or disabled homeowners by putting Christian values and principles in Action. The program offered by them include Roof Replacement, Painting of homes Interior and exterior, Construction for Wheelchair ramps, and others. 6. DME Exchange of Dallas, Inc. 

DME Exchange has been designated by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and will be serving qualified residents for little or no charge – only the second of its kind in Texas and one of only 39 in the United States. They distribute medical equipment to individuals in need throughout Dallas County. Clients must have a physician’s prescription, be a Dallas County resident and demonstrate need as uninsured or under-insured.

7. First Methodist Church of Kileen 

When you are looking for grants for mobility aids or a piece of medical equipment, your local church is a great place to start your search. First Methodist Church of Kileen has helped people with ramps and they might be able to help you. GoodwheelChairs.org is an Austin based non-profit that provides low cost, gently used wheelchairs, power chairs and scooters. Given the rising cost of health care, mobility equipment can be financially out-of-reach for many Central Texans, sometimes leaving them not only housebound but also bedridden.

9. Medcy.org 

Medcy.org is a local organization in Houston. While there were many organizations ready to provide the reusable supplies to other countries, Medcy Inc. was founded to fill that void of assistance for people in Houston. They provide Durable Medical Equipment at an affordable discounted cost to the general public, raise money through thrift store sales and implement programs that will further increase access to durable medical equipment, Keep reusable medical supplies and equipment out of the landfills, through reuse, thereby protecting the environment, and increase public awareness of Prostate Cancer risks and symptoms, the 2nd leading cause of death among men.

10. Project MEND 

People living with disabilities often have limited choices when faced with the need for expensive medical equipment. Project MEND provides compassionate solutions. They offer medical equipment and assistive technology to individuals who cannot afford the items they need or are faced with gaps in their insurance coverage. For 25 years, Project MEND has provided medical equipment for the community’s most vulnerable people.

11. Rainbow Senior Center 

Rainbow Senior Center has a durable medical equipment program and they provide DME to anyone who needs it and can’t afford it. Equipments include standard walkers, seated walkers, canes, crutches, shower chairs, transfer chairs, and wheelchairs.

12. REACH

REACH is a non-profit agency and provides various services to people with disabilities- in addition to core services, we have a loaner equipment program that includes vision-related items (magnifying lenses, task lamps, CCTV reading machines, big button phones, talking watches and clocks)as well as mobility items (canes, walkers, scooters, power, and manual wheelchairs). Some items were donated, others were purchased by different funding sources. Loaner items are based on availability and are loaned for as long as the item is needed to help the individual remain independent.

13. The Texas Ramp Project 

They build wheelchair ramps for disabled or elderly people who can’t afford to buy one. In a few hours on a Saturday morning, they give these folks the freedom to leave their home again—the home where they want to remain but whose steps have imprisoned them. However, they don’t entertain individual requests and you have to ask your social worker or healthcare professional to make the referral to them using this link.
